Authorities say Judy Lynn Hayman, who escaped from a Michigan prison in 1977, has been captured in California. Acting on a tip from Michigan corrections officials, San Diego police arrested Hayman at her apartment Monday.

The 60-year-old woman had been living under an assumed name, but admitted to being Hayman when taken in for questioning.

Hayman escaped from an Ypsilanti prison in 1977 while serving time for attempted larceny.
