Peaches, plums, nectarines, and plouts from Wawona Packing Co have been recalled.

The fruit in question was packaged between July 1st and July 12th in Cutler, California. Wawona believes the fruits may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Wawona Packing Company is voluntarily recalling the fruit, and the Cutler facility has been shut down and sanitized. There have been no reported illnesses at this time.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause Listeriosis. The most common symptoms of Listeriosis are gastrointestinal issues (such as diarrhea), fever and muscle aches. Pregnant women, infants, older adults and people with a weakened immune system are particularly at risk for a more serious infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
