Flint Teacher Buys Backpack for Kindergartner

He says that he didn't do it for the recognition - he did it because he's blessed.

Karyn Libbrecht was school shopping with her granddaughter when she noticed a man standing behind them. She jokingly asked him if he was going to buy a girls' backpack, and he said no - but he wanted to buy one for her granddaughter.

His name is Lamar Brown, and he's a teacher at Dye Elementary. He told her that she could get whichever one she wants - she chose Minnie Mouse. Libbrecht posted it on Facebook, where it's gone viral.

This isn't the first time that Brown has been in the news for his positive impact - he started volunteering at the school a few years ago after his third-shift job at GM, and they hired him on shortly after.
