Michigan Powerball Winner Scores $1 Million Sept. 1

One lucky Michigan Lottery player is waking up a millionaire today, thanks to Monday night’s Powerball drawing.

The winning ticket matched all five white balls — 8, 23, 25, 40, and 53 — in the September 1 drawing, according to the Michigan Lottery. That win is worth a cool $1 million prize.

According to Yahoo News, the lucky ticket was purchased at a CVS Pharmacy on Warren Avenue in Detroit.

Michigan has a new millionaire, but the billion-dollar jackpot is still up for grabs. The Powerball jackpot rolls over once again, soaring to an estimated $1.3 billion for the next drawing on Wednesday, September 3.

Across the country, nine other $1 million Powerball tickets were sold in California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Jersey (2), New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Two tickets in Montana and North Carolina matched the five white balls and included the Power Play option, boosting their prizes to $2 million each.

Michigan’s Recent Big Powerball Wins

This isn’t the first time Michigan has celebrated a big Powerball win. Last month, a $1 million ticket was sold at the Speedway gas station on Perry Road in Grand Blanc.

And let’s not forget the $842.4 million Powerball jackpot won on January 1, 2024, by “The Breakfast Club,” a three-member lottery club. They purchased their winning ticket at the Food Castle in Grand Blanc and chose the lump sum option, taking home approximately $305 million after taxes.
