Commerce Township Doctor Offering Free Bariatric Surgery

A Commerce Township doctor is joining forces with the Michigan Weight Management Institute to offer a $20,000 weight loss surgery for free and you can apply!

Dr. Matthew Weiner, who is with the Michigan Weight Management, is teaming up with DMC Huron-Valley Sinai Hospital to perform one bariatric surgery.

This opportunity is open for applicants, but you must match some criteria. Would be applicants must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 35-39 and suffer from a weight related disease such as high blood pressure, sleep apnea or diabetes, or have a BMI greater than 40. Would be applicants must also write an essay.

Three applicants will be evaluated. One lucky hopeful will receive the life changing treatment.

Dr, Weiner hopes to draw attention to the epidemic of obesity in America. "We're going to help one person, but our goals are much greater than that." Weiner continues, "Our goals are to draw are to draw attention to obesity as a disease."
