Lexi Haas is an 11-year-old girl who is wheelchair-bound, and was recently told by staff at the Ships of the Sea Museum in Savannah, Georgia that she could not enter the facility because "her wheelchair would get the carpet dirty."

Lexi and her family traveled from Charlotte, North Carolina to Savannah, and had planned to visit the museum during their stay. Her father, Dr. Ken Haas, said staff offered to let Lexi use one of the wheelchairs owned by the museum, but because of her condition, Lexi is only able to use a custom-made chair.

The museum has since apologized, stating that their policy regarding handicap access and disabled persons includes no rules regarding soiled carpets.
