Your beloved pet has passed away. You are devastated, and can't imagine life without your furry friend. If you are looking for a way to keep them close to you even though they have passed on, there is a way. Have their cremated remains turned into a diamond. I will explain after the jump.

A company called LifeGem will take just eight ounces of your pet's cremated remains and turn the carbon contained within the ashes into a beautiful jewel. Choose from red, blue, green, yellow or clear colors. LifeGem claims that the stones are "molecularly identical to natural diamonds."  This service isn't cheap. Prices start at $1400. The stones can then be set into the piece of jewelry of your choice.

What do you think? Is this a way to keep a beloved pet close to you forever, or is the whole idea just kind of creepy?
