One of my favorite things about summer in Michigan is small town festivals.  This Friday, Saturday and Sunday is the 24th annual Yale Bologna Festival in the small town of Yale about an hour east of Flint.

Bologna has been produced in Yale over a century, and these days is still made by C. Roy, Inc. in Yale.

I plan on running the Bologna Fest 5k race on Saturday morning, just so I can get a t-shirt with "Bologna Festival" on it.

Other Bologna Festival happenings are the crowning of the Bologna King and Queen on Friday evening, followed by the Outhouse Races and the Bologna Ring toss.  Friday night will be capped off with a fireworks display.

Saturday has the 5k race in the morning, activities throughout the day and the Big Bologna Parade at 6:30 pm.

Sunday starts with a pancake breakfast (side of bologna, perhaps?), followed by a classic car and bike show and a cardboard boat race.
