It's been almost ten years since the attacks on the World Trade Center that changed America forever.  Since then, those who have lost family and friends on that horrific day have had no place to remember their fallen loved ones.  All of that is about to change.

Construction has been underway for years, and the goal is to have the 9/11 memorial open on the tenth anniversary.  The new World Trade Center will also reclaim the New York City skyline as it is slated reach 1,000 feet on 9/11 of this year, making it the tallest building in lower Manhattan.  In addition, there are two voids that have been placed on the footprints of where each of the twin towers stood.  The biggest man-made waterfalls run down the sides of these voids, framed with each of the victims names engraved in a beautiful brass rail.

The Discovery Channel has been documenting the construction efforts in a series called "Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero."  This documentary details the progress being made, and showcases the people behind this landmark build.  Check out some of the series' highlights.

Finally, some raw footage of the day that changed America.
