Right now the average price in Genesee County is anywhere between $3.91 to $3.95 per gallon of regular no lead. That’s up by seven cents from last week at this time.So what’s causing the panic at the pumps?
Here’s what I know…The demand over Memorial Day weekend, rising wholesale gasoline prices and simmering geopolitical tensions abroad. The last part means we’re paying more for what might happen.
AAA also says the statewide average is up about 1 cent from this time last year. Of the cities it surveys, the auto club says the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel is in the Marquette area, where it’s about $3.75 a gallon. The highest average is in the Jackson, Saginaw, Bay City, Midland and Traverse City areas at about $3.94 a gallon.
