When Does Work Feel Like A Vacation?

Fenech Pictures

I have been off for most of this week because we are in the process of moving.  A tough task for anyone, but this move has been especially difficult.

How difficult you may ask?  Such that being on the air at work actually feels more like vacation than my vacation did!

We’re moving from Grand Blanc to my old parents house in the Lake Fenton area which isn’t too far, so we can do it in several trips instead of one giant load.

The problem is, when my parents left for Florida they had to leave around 90% of their stuff.  Because they are downsizing their house size, they left me a garage full of tools, a swimming pool and everything that goes with it, furniture and much more.  That’s great… but where do I put it?

The majority of this week, I have spent sorting and moving just to make room for all of our stuff! My help has been very limited, and I have three kids I have to keep an eye on.  To top it all off, my wife had only one day off this week and that was a big help, but other than that, I’ve been virtually on my own.

Needless to say, getting up at 5am and coming in to work this morning feels like a much needed vacation, compared to sleeping until 7:30 and feverishly working my tail off until the wee hours of the night.
