When a Blind Man Regained His Sight, This Was the First Note He Wrote
An elderly man who has spent the last 22 years in the dark was overcome with emotion when his vision began to return, and wrote this beautiful note to his wife.
Reddit user 77Freakofnature posted the note after his grandfather's vision was partially restored, thanks to telescopic eye implant surgery. The man got his first look at his wife and family for the first time in over two decades.
His vision loss was attributed to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) the leading cause of blindness in the US. Telescopic eye implant surgery involves planting a tiny telescope in place of the eye's lens. The implant then magnifies images and sends signals to the brain.
