If your any kind of sports fan, you have a pretty good idea how much time, hard work and dedication it takes to be the best. That would apply to all the obvious sports, but would playing horseshoes at a competitive level take that same commitment? Sometimes it just takes a memory to inspire you.

What many would consider to be a backyard, beer swilling sport, people like Brian Simmons take it to the next level. He pays for the extensive travels from his own pocket just to compete in professional horseshoe tournaments. Often times the winning prize- money is a break-even for him. At the World Horseshoe Tournament he did not have a sponsor, so he paid his own way.

So, why does he do it? He does it in memory of his dad, Clinton.

"When he died, I set a goal for myself. I wanted to prove to everybody what he taught me through the years."
