Be vigilant next week if you and/or your chidlren suffer from asthma or upper respiratory problems.

The third week in September is becoming commonly known as "Asthma Peak Week." Doctors, parents and teachers have been noticing an uptick in the amount of asthma attacks in children during this time over the last several years.

It's being attributed to several different things: 1) kids have been back in school and exposed to a litany of germs, and 2) seasonal allergies are becoming more severe.

It's important to watch your children during this time and make sure that they're using their inhalers, nebulizers and taking their medication consistently during this time. Also, make sure you have an asthma action plan in place with your child's school.

Personally, as somebody (not a child, obviously) who has asthma and struggles with it immensely during this time of the year, I've been extra careful about listening to my wheezing and my body in general. Be careful, especially as temperatures begin to drop!
