Happy cows produce more milk.  At least that's the theory, and one of many reasons that an Oregon farmer has installed waterbeds for his dairy cows.  Kyrn Van Loon, co-owner of Van Loon Dairy Farm says that the cows sleep better and it is easier to keep their stalls cleaner with the new waterbeds.

The cows are more comfortable and cleaner versus having them sleep in sawdust.  Over the long term, Van Loon expects to save money on bedding costs, diesel fuel and medications.  While they haven't noticed an increase in milk production yet, the Van Loons expect to see that soon.

In the coming months, they plan to install waterbeds for the rest of their dairy herd.

Some lava lamps and Barry White music might help with the "mooood."
