Want to Win the Powerball Jackpot? Here are Four Crazy Things You Are More Likely To Do
Powerball Mania has hit much of the US, even more locally here in Mid-Michigan since Don Lawson of Lapeer won $337 million back in August. Of the 40 states that participate in the Powerball game no one matched all the numbers for Saturday’s drawing, so the jackpot has jumped up to a whopping $425 million! So what are the odds that you will win?
There are four things that are more likely to happen to you than winning the Powerball Jackpot.
1) Hitting a Deer in Hawaii. According to a 2011 study by State Farm, it’s the state where you’re least likely to do it. Obviously you’d have to be there first, but the odds are about one in 6,000. You obviously have a better chance of hitting a deer in Michigan, believe me... I know from personal experience!
2) Dying from a Bee Sting. Your chances are about one in six million, and your chances of dying from a lightning strike are about one in three million. But your chances of just being struck by lightning are a lot higher. If you live to be 80, you have about a one in 10,000 chance of it happening at some point in your life, according to the National Weather Service.
3) Getting Attacked by a Shark. Your odds are about one in 11.5 million. But the odds of dying for any reason at the beach are about one in two million.
4) Making a Hole in One. For an average amateur golfer, the odds are about one in 13,000, but if you’re a terrible golfer like me, then obviously the odds are a lot worse. Your chances of getting two back-to-back holes are about one in 156 million, which is still slightly better than your odds for winning the Powerball jackpot.
I wish you the best of luck, but be warned... If you win the Powerball jackpot, I wouldn't go driving in Hawaii!
