At 11 am on Friday, November 11, 2011 (11/11/11) the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan will host a Veterans Day ceremony honoring all who served in the armed forces of our country. Patriotic music, presentation of colors, cannon and rifle salutes, and taps.
The Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard will also make a wreath presentation and a flyover has been requested. Michael W. Zehnder, who served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam will be the keynote speaker.

The Great Lakes National Cemetery is one of two such National Shrines in Michigan. Opened for burials in 2005, the cemetery's 544 acres will be the final resting place for an estimated 177,000 veterans. Thus far, over 13,200 veterans and their dependents have been buried at this site.
