Justin Verlander had all of his pitches working today.  The Tigers scored runs early and often, and the defense made some plays to help him to his second career no-hitter, just the 7th in Tiger history.  It was almost a perfect game

as Verlander walked J.P. Arencibia with one out in the 8th inning.  The next batter promptly grounded into a double-play, so Verlander faced the minimum 27 batters in his pitching gem.   Verlander only struck out 4 batters today, but fanned Rajai Davis to end the game.  The victory evens Verlander's record at 3-3 this season

Jhonny Peralta and Alex Avila both homered in the 4th to power the Tiger offense, while Austin Jackson had three hits to lift his average to .209.

The Tigers and Blue Jays will play again in Toronto tomorrow afternoon, 1:07 start time.  Max Scherzer is scheduled to start for Detroit.

This was a great win.   Not only for Justin Verlander, but for the Tigers, who got contributions from almost everybody in the lineup.   Good things happen when you do things right.
