Over the last few months, several vehicles have been vandalized on the west side of Genesee County. In the city of Swartz Creek alone, nine incidents have been reported.

Lieutenant Matt Bade tells ABC-12 that the only pattern established by the vandals is that cars have been targeted at night in residential areas where vehicles are parked a considerable distance from the homes.

Bade recommends residents be on the lookout for suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.

"What I'd ask is if people are sleeping or awake at night, if you see cars cruising your neighborhood where they shouldn't be, or you're hearing noises outside, give us a call. It can't hurt, no matter what jurisdiction you're in. As I said, this has spread beyond just Swartz Creek, it's involving Flint Township, Clayton, Gaines, the west side of the county," he said.
