As we are well into graduation season, I wanted to share a story from a couple of years ago that really strikes me as amazing.

In 2014, Griffin Furlong graduated with a 4.65 GPA from First Coast High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Much to the surprise of his classmates, the class valedictorian revealed that he and his father had been homeless since his mother passed away 12 years prior to his graduation.

Furlong tells ABC that it's his homelessness that has motivated him to perform well in school.

"I never want to live a life like that again. I do everything I do because I don't want to live like that."
