Brace yourself if you thought last winter was brutal, this year is suppose to be equally as fun. The upper U.S. will get the brunt of the winter weather, especially when it comes to cold temps. That's just great.

Forecasters say the La Nina weather phenomenon will largely figure in another brutally cold and snowy winter for much of the United States.

La Ninas develop when sea surface temperatures across the equatorial central and eastern Pacific are below normal. When this occurs, unpredictable weather patterns are created across the Midwest and Northeast.

The position of this winter's jet stream because of La Nina will tend to drive storms through the Midwest and Great Lakes region. Rumor has it Chicago could be one of the hardest hit cities this winter.

I know it's not exactly great news but I thought you might like to know.
