Dairy Queen is nice, but local is better, wouldn't you agree?

Uncle Ray's Dairyland in Fenton gave away free ice cream cones in exchange for children's book donations for the Delivering Hope organization. And it's all part of the shop's 40th anniversary - it was founded on March 1st, 1978 by Ray Durant, Dave Durant's father.

Ray was a teacher for Fenton schools and started the shop so he'd have something "fun" to do during the summer.

Last year, the organization collected over 4,000 books, and they expect to surpass that number this year, with help from Uncle Ray's. The book collection ends on Friday.

Happy anniversary, Uncle Ray's! If you want to pick up some of their ice cream, you can now get it at Crust and The Laundry, as well as the original shop of course.
