U2 and Apple have made music history. The band has released their brand-new album, 'Songs of Innocence,' entirely for free on iTunes today, Sept. 9.

"It makes music history because it's the largest album release of all time," Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement (shown left in the picture above, with U2's Bono). Cook revealed that the album will be accessible to over 500 million iTunes customers in 119 countries. Not too shabby!

"This is our most personal record," Bono revealed of the album (quote via ABC News). The free offer will extend on iTunes through Oct. 13.

CNET reports that the band and the company have always had close partnerships, noting that Bono was good friends with Steve Jobs. U2 and Apple have partnered before on various different special edition iPods and more.

In addition to the thrilling news for U2 fans, Apple also unveiled the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple Watch.

The watch, which features a square face, will start at $349 and will be available in stainless steel or 18 karat gold and is set to be released next year. The iPhones will be available later this month (Sept. 19), and they are both thinner, feature redesigned keyboards and better retina displays. The 6 will have a 4.7 inch screen, while the 6 Plus will boast a 5.5 inch screen.
