The Wolverine Food Den has been in "development" since 2015 and is finally open.

Four years ago, the idea was born to have an on-campus food pantry after students did some research and found out that 50% of students are having food issues. The students submitted an application for a grant to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor to get the food pantry off the ground.

Chancellor Sue Borrego told ABC 12 that it was the students who did all the work.

The Wolverine Food Den is open 16 hours per week and is located on the third floor of the University Center. There are no eligibility requirements; it's open to any student to come in and get what they need. It'll be supplied by the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
