A toddler at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles has been showered with pizza after her family used medical tape to post a sign in her window saying, "Send Pizza RM 4112."

Hazel Hammersley's mom and grandmother put up the sign as a joke, saying they like doing fun and silly things to help pass the time. According to mother Lauren's blog, the sign was up for several days, and intended only to give passers by a laugh.

Things changed on Saturday when someone on the street took a picture of it, posted it to the social media site Reddit, and pizza began to show up.

"Hazel woke up from her nap to the smell of pizza and was so excited to chow down! Several other children and nurses came into the room, with music playing, and had themselves a wonderful Pizza Party.  As of yesterday evening, there was more than 20 boxes delivered and more was coming!  We had such a great time!"

The deliveries have caused a bit of chaos at the hospital, so staff and family had to politely ask online supporters to stop sending pizzas. Hazel's mother is grateful for the attention, and hopes that well-wishers will continue to show their love and support with prayer and donations to childhood cancer research.

"We have been absolutely humbled and surprised by the outpouring of love and support from the online community and can only hope and pray that this brings awareness to Neuroblastoma and the Childhood Cancer Community."

Hazel has a high-risk, stage 3 Neuroblastoma and she will be receiving 18 months of hospital treatment. Her donation page is located here.
