July 24th is National Drive-Thru Day, a day to celebrate America's love affair with the automobile and businesses that cater to those on the road.  Jack-in-the-Box is recognized as America's first major hamburger chain to pave the way for this new type of dining experience.

These days, most every restaurant has a drive-thru.  Lots of other businesses have them too.  Banks, pharmacies, liquor stores, and others.

On one hand, the drive-thru is quick and convenient when traveling.  On the other hand, it eliminates the need to get out of your vehicle and move around and maybe burn off a few of the calories you're loading up on at the drive-thru.

Good, bad or otherwise, the Drive-Thru is truly an American invention.  We celebrate it today on National Drive-Thru Day.

You want fries with that?
