It's been 22 months since Captain Francesco Schettino slammed the Costa Concordia into reefs off the Italian coast killing almost three dozen people. This week, the ship was finally pulled upright.  The side that was above water looks as pristine as it did the day it crashed.  The other side, which was under water all this time, looks like it was bombed.

Now that the ship is upright on a platform that was built underneath it, the salvage crew has turned possession over to authorities who will resume their search for two bodies that were never recovered.  Once that is complete, the salvage crew will begin the next phase of their operation. However the ship will not be moved until next summer.

It took 19 hours to get the ship upright, but you can watch it in :60 seconds below.  See more pictures of the salvage effort here.
