The Tigers were trailing most of the way in this one against New York's A.J. Burnett.  Detroit didn't even have a hit until the 6th inning.

The Tigers managed to score 6 runs with only 4 hits.  3 Yankee errors aided the Tiger cause, and Detroit made the most of it.  Brennan Boesch drove in three runs for the Tigers, with a sacrafice fly in the first, an RBI single in the 6th to tie the game, and a homer in the 8th to widen the lead.

Rick Porcello pitched 7 strong innings, allowing only two Yankee runs to pick up his second win of the season.  Daniel Schlereth pitched the 8th, and closer Jose Valverde allowed a run before striking out Nick Swisher to end the game with a chest pounding victory dance.  Final score:  Detroit 6, Yankees 3.

Tigers are now 14-17 and in 3rd place in the American League Central Division, 7 games behind first-place Cleveland.

The Tigers will travel to Toronto for a 4-game weekend wraparound series with the Blue Jays, the off to Minnesota for two with the Twins.
