Tigers Spring Training Has Begun!

With pitchers and catchers officially reporting to Tiger training camp in Lakeland, Florida, Spring Training is underway!  The Tigers will begin the Major League regular season on the road in New York against the Yankees on March 31st.  The team retains most of its players from last season, along with free agent pickups Victor Martinez (catcher/DH) and Brad Penny (starting pitcher) and Joaquin Benoit (relief pitcher).  Jim Leyland's team hopes to improve on last season, where they finished well behind Central Division Champion Minnesota.  If the team stays healthy and productive, they should be competitive.  At the very least, it's a sure sign that spring isn't too far away!
