The final game of the 3-game series between the Tigers and Kansas City Royals was rained out yesterday at Comerica Park in Detroit after the Tigers won the first two.  That game has been re-scheduled for September 1st.  Tonight, the Tigers will try to extend the win string to eight against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Max Scherzer will get the start for Detroit, hoping to improve his won-loss record to 7-0.  Tonight will also mark the Major League debut of outfielder Andy Dirks who was called up from Toledo after Magglio Ordonez was placed on the 15-day Disabled List.  Dirks was hitting .328 at Toledo with 10 stolen bases and six homers.  Let's hope he can show some of that at the big league level.

The Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista continues his hot hitting, belting three homers yesterday against the Twins.  Bautista now has 16 homers this season.

The Tigers enter tonight's game with a 22-18 record.  That's good for second place in the American League Central division, three and a half games behind the first-place Cleveland Indians.
