Three Facing Charges Over Flint Child Abuse Facebook Video

Genesee County Sherriff’s Office

The three monsters that video taped the beating of an 11-year-old Flint boy and posted it on Facebook were arraigned this morning (Tuesday) following an investigation that began last Friday.  Two of the three were taken into custody on outstanding warrants over the weekend, but now all three are in police custody and face third-degree child abuse charges.

The Flint Journal – Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Mid-Michigan residents were livid as the video went viral over the weekend, and a mistake in today’s paper just fueled that fire.  A hard copy of today’s issue of “The Flint Journal” states that Flint Police Chief James Tolbert said “police do not consider the video to be evidence.”  Myself and several other co-workers were shocked and appalled when we read that this afternoon, but I found the digital copy of that article online, and discovered it was an obvious type-o.  (Not the kind of mistake you want to make when covering a story like this.)

In addition to the outstanding warrants that landed them in police custody, 40-year old Stefan Felton, 42-year-old Uteas Taylor, and 28-year-old Demitria Powell, are facing conspiracy to commit third-degree child abuse and committing child abuse in front of a minor according to another report.

Our listeners exploded with feedback when the video went viral, and you see the response from our website here, and our Facebook page here.
