A leap second is being added to the clock this year, in order to synchronize atomic clocks with astronomical time. According to this website, the earth's rotation around its own axis is gradually slowing -- so we need the leap second to keep the earth in sync with atomic clocks. #NerdStuff.

In Flint, because we're in the Eastern Time Zone, the leap second will occur at 7:59:60 pm on June 30, 2015. (That's just before 8:00 pm.)
