Because I know how much you all LOVE cyclists. *sarcasm*

A new law went into effect in Michigan last night that requires drivers to give cyclists three feet of space on the road.

Before yesterday, Michigan one of only 11 states WITHOUT a law protecting cyclists on the road, but with the increase in deaths of cyclists being hit by cars, advocacy groups said that it was time for a change.

The law will also include pedestrian and cyclist safety in driver's education.

And before you start to complain, I encourage you to count how many cyclists you see on the road every day vs. how many drivers. It's not ILLEGAL for cyclists to use the sidewalk in Michigan, but it's not recommended. Yes, cyclists have the same rights as vehicles, like it or not. Both are required to follow the law.
