After waving goodbye to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil last night (August 21), NBC immediately ushered in its next big event — The Voice Season 11, which welcomed new judges Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys.

The show first announced in March that the "Wrecking Ball" and "In Common" singers would replace seats previously occupied by Pharrell, Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera. Still, in a sneak peek of the new season's premiere, Cyrus and Keys took to the swivel chairs like seasoned pros, and after lighting up a coaches' medley of Aerosmith's "Dream On," they went to battle for one of Season 11's first big talents.

A 17-year-old named We McDonald left the judges speechless with a performance of "Feeling Good" that earned relentless praise. Cyrus said she could identify with McDonald for having been bullied through her teens.

"I had to tour when I was 16 and 17," she said, before throwing a jab at her older co-judges. "With you saying you're being bullied, I mean, that already happened to me. The internet already existed when I started touring."

Still, Keys, who's continuing to advocate for makeup-free looks while on the show, seemed to stare straight into McDonald's soul. The coach teared up while making a pitch for the contestant to join her team.

"You came to this show to meet me," Keys said. "I'm not playing, I'm not joking. I'm so serious, and I'm serious in a place in my heart...I don't want to be like anybody else, and I don't want you to be like anyone else."
