The Good News: 5-Year-Old Asks for Supplies for Animal Shelters for his Birthday [PHOTO]
"He just has such a big heart," Stephanie Shaw, Dalton's mother, said. "He was so excited."
Dalton Shaw celebrated his fifth birthday by asking for donations for his local animal shelters in Illinois. His family has two rescue cats and two rescue dogs. His parents said that he got a lot of presents for Christmas and, instead, he asked for donations to help the animals for his birthday this last weekend.
Not only did he collect donations, but he also received about $250 in cash donations as well, which his mother said they weren't expecting. "I had expected a little bag of treats from people here and there," said Stephanie.
Heartland Pet Welfare, Carroll County Humane Society and JoDaviess County Humane Society will all be the recipients of the donations, and Dalton and his parents plan to hand deliver them.
This kid makes me think that I was an ungrateful little hellion when I was his age! Nice job, Dalton!
