I find it interesting to see how the crisis is being viewed from an outside perspective, and BBC news provides just that. They wrote an article about it just before Christmas, prior to the Governor declaring a state of emergency, and that's when the scale of the problem really hit me.

But I did a double-take when I saw an interview with someone I pass in the hallway here at the radio station every day, Melissa Mays. I knew that my co-worker was very proactive in bringing the attention to the crisis that it needs and the Flint residents deserve. But I had no idea how badly it affected her family.

It's heartbreaking to watch a well-respected, global news outlet talk about your home town, and see one of your co-workers talking about high lead levels in her kids, rashes, hair loss and other health related problems. . Absolutely heartbreaking!
