The Flint School District is Using Advertising to Keep Current Students
I don’t know if a commercial during The Bachelor would convince me to change schools. But the Flint School District is spending $15,000 on advertising, hoping it will help them hold onto most of the $13.5 million in state funding they already receive.
The district is projecting they will lose 1,812 students in the next three years, which means they will lose $13.5 million. The state of pays schools approximately $7,450 per student every year.
The Flint School District is advertising on TV, radio, and printed media. The major effort comes after Flint closed four schools and restructured three others in an attempt to help with the district’s $15.8 million deficit.
They are likely advertising the new classes for students this fall. There are new science, technology, engineering and math classes for students pre-kindergarten through sixth grade opening at the Brownell/Holmes school.
