Teens Get High From Drinking Hand Sanitizer

Kids are very resourceful. Especially when it comes to getting high. I would like to know who thought it would be a good thing to sip on some hand sanitizer. Yes, I said hand sanitizer.

Hand sanitizers have a high percentage of ethyl alcohol, and teens have found a way to distill that by using salt to separate the alcohol from the sanitizer. That creates a drink that’s as potent as a shot of the hard stuff.  Hand sanitizers are cheap and easily purchased and distillation instructions can be found on the internet, so there is a real cause for concern.  A medical expert warns “All it takes is just a few swallows and you have a drunk teenager…There is no question that it is dangerous.”

I can see a day where hand sanitizers will only be available behind the counter, like cold medicine. It makes me wonder what will kids think of next?
