‘Ted 2′ and More ‘Bourne’ Sequels in the Works at Universal

Universal

Thanks to the success of both ‘Ted‘ and ‘The Bourne Legacy‘ this year, Universal is already working on developing more sequels because that’s what you guys want, so that’s what you guys are going to get. Let the sequel-izing commence!

THR is reporting that NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke spoke today about the company’s plans for the future, including more animation. They currently put out one animated feature every 18 months, but they’d like to increase that to two animated features per year.

Also in the works: continuing the ‘Bourne’ franchise. Based on the popular Robert Ludlum novels, we’ve already gotten three ‘Bourne’ films starring Matt Damon, and this year’s fourth, ‘The Bourne Legacy,’ starring Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton. The film opened up the world of ‘Bourne’ by showing us that Jason Bourne wasn’t unique, and there’s plenty more to mine in that universe, according to Universal.

Burke also commented on the success of ‘Ted,’ Seth MacFarlane‘s feature directorial debut starring Mark Wahlberg as a guy with a talking, foul-mouthed teddy bear. NBCUniversal is currently working out plans for a sequel, saying they’d like to make that happen “as soon as we can.” You know, after the 14 other ‘Bourne’ movies and half a dozen ‘Fast and the Furious’ sequels.
