Teacher Wears the Same Outfit for 40 Years of School Photos [VIDEO]
Dale Irby had to suck in his gut a little these last few years, but the retiring Texas teacher has worn the very same outfit on picture day for the last 40 years.
It started out as an accident, as the Prestonwood Elementary teacher dressed casually to teach Physical Education. As a first-year teacher in 1973, he bought a then-stylish, now-not-so-much, pointy-collared shirt and wool vest, in preparation for picture day. When it rolled around the second year, Irby donned the only nice thing hanging in his closet. He told the Dallas Morning news he didn't realize it was the same ensemble until he got the pictures back.
“I was so embarrassed when I got the school pictures back that second year and realized I had worn the very same thing as the first year.”
His wife dared him to wear it again for year three, and the rest is history.
