Ladies, next time you’re at work and — horrors! — notice the eyeliner you so carefully applied that morning is fading away, help may be no further away than the black markers in the office supply closet. That’s according to country phenom Taylor Swift, who recently copped to once using a Sharpie for her signature cat-eye look.

“I once used a Sharpie as eyeliner in an airplane bathroom because I didn’t have any with me,” she told Refinery29.

And then, perhaps remembering she has a zillion-dollar endorsement deal with CoverGirl — which for reasons unknown doesn’t include Sharpies in its line of cosmetics — she quickly added, “I don’t recommend it.”

Swift, who defines her style as “classic, feminine, and retro,” says her go-to look is “red lips and a cat-eye.” And while she herself is considered a fashion icon to many young girls, the singer has style inspirations of her own.

“I love looking at photos of Ethel and Jackie Kennedy back in the ’50s and ’60s,” she said. “Something about that elegance is really lovely and makes me want to dress more like they did. I’d never thought about wearing pearl earrings or head scarves before [being inspired by] them.”

And those blunt-cut bangs she’s recently started sporting? Blame the stylists at high-fashion glossy mag Vogue. “I was so excited to be shooting the cover of Vogue that I let them cut bangs for me at the shoot. It turned out to be one of my favorite changes I’ve ever made to my hair,” she explained. “Moral of the story: Always trust Vogue.”
