I-69 is closed in both directions at Irish Road in Davison Township after a tanker truck hauling hazardous materials hit a guardrail. Area residents and businesses are being evacuated. One report says the truck exploded after the collision. Listeners are reporting that I-69 is closed eastbound at Belsay Road, and westbound at M-15.

UPDATE: According to WNEM, HAZMAT is on the scene and, because of winds, crews are evacuating businesses southwest of the crash including Meijer and nearby gas stations.

UPDATE: The fire is now out, but authorities are still urging nearby residents to stay indoors with window and doors closed.

UPDATE (3:10P): Irish Rd (between Court and Lapeer) and I-69 (both directions between Belsay and M-15) will remain closed until Michigan Department of Transportation officials can inspect the bridge. Unfortunately, that can't happen until HAZMAT crews clear the area, which has not happened yet. Sources are saying the aforementioned roads will be closed for at least 12 hours. Nearby residents are still advised to remain indoors.
