Death Toll in Oklahoma Lowered to 24; Search for Survivors Continues

Officials in Oklahoma have lowered the number of deaths suffered to 24 in the massive tornado that swept through the town of Moore Monday night. Originally, the figure had been as high as 51, probably a result of double-counting.

Television anchors were forced to flee for safety in the middle of a live broadcast Sunday as a huge tornado tore through downtown Wichita.The tornado season has arrived like a lion. A massive tornado touched down just south of Oklahoma City on Monday, killing dozens.

At least seven of those killed were students at Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore. The twister, which measured 2 miles at one point, has been given a preliminary classification of an EF-4 tornado (winds of 166 to 200 mph), according to weather officials.

Massive Tornado Destroys Area Near Oklahoma City; At Least 51 Killed [UPDATED]

An enormous tornado with a debris cloud two miles wide tore through the metropolitan area just south of Oklahoma City on Monday afternoon.

UPDATE 9:28 p.m. EST: At least 51 people were killed in the storm, including seven children from Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore, according to KFOR in Oklahoma City. The news station reported that 75 student and staff were inside the school when the storm struck. Officials said Monday night that the search of the rubble remaining of the school had turned to a recovery mission.

Looks like a scene from' Wizzard Of Oz'. Caleb and Candra Pence of Harper, Kansas said their vows even with a tornado eight-miles off in the back ground. The twister caused some serious damage eight- miles out but fortunately no one was injured.

A lot of personal video coming out of the Dallas, Texas area since Tuesday's tornadoes. What got my attention about this video is the man recording it. His name is Vincent Tang. He is standing outside praying to God to keep the twister away from his house as it heads ever closer toward him.

Living here in Michigan does have its advantages. We do get tornadoes here but not as big or as often as places like Texas and Oklahoma. I lived in Dallas ,Texas for a few years and when it was tornado season you knew it.
The Dallas/Fort Worth area was hit Tuesday leaving most counties in the northern part of the state under a tornado watch.

Most Incredible Tornado Video Inside A School Bus [VIDEO]

This story could have had a totally different ending. Surveillance video shows the inside of a school bus in Henryville, Indiana, as a tornado hit on March 2nd. The twister threw the bus into a building. Eleven school children and the driver had just evacuated the bus.

If it were not for the quick thinking of the bus driver this story could have had a very tragic ending. See for yourself after the jump.

A dog named Mason who was blown out of his home when a tornado tore through North Smithfield, Alabama on April 27 crawled back three weeks later.
