In celebration of the release of Alicia Keys new album 'Girl on Fire,' a light show was held at the Empire State Building in New York. The Grammy-winning songbird flipped the switch to launch the LED tower light display, which was also synchronized to her anthemic tunes 'Girl on Fire' and 'Empire State of Mind.'

What a stupid ban. No I don't think we should do this in Michigan. This is truly something that should stay in New York. The proposal passed by a vote of eight to zero. Here's what it means.

It was in July of 2008, that the carcass of a bloated, chimera-like animal washed ashore in Long Island. The ‘Montauk Monster‘  zoologists concluded, was probably a water-damaged raccoon, rather than some sort of unknown species. Now, in 2012, it appears another monster has landed on the beach.

If you have ever traveled to a big city, then you probably are aware of a different kind of feeling that comes with it. Big cities seem colder, less friendly than smaller towns, almost rude at times. Well, you were probably right. According to a ‘Travel + Leisure’ survey of their well-trodden readership, New York City, true to its reputation, is the rudest city in the nation.

I was shocked this morning when I heard about a woman who was killed in a New York elevator accident. Suzanne Hart, a 41-year-old employee at an advertising agency, was on her way to work on the first floor of the building around 10am.  As she entered, the doors closed on her.  As the elevator began its ascent, it crushed her while pulling her up into the shaft.

My personal feeling about the whole occupy thing is not very positive. Most of the people doing the occupying have no clue why they're even there. I think it's all about the party. This story and video is  perfect for occupy Wall Street. The raid Tuesday was set to music, take the jump and enjoy the video.

On Monday morning, Michael A. Davitt, a former New York State employee and known rabblerouser, delayed traffic on the Tappan Zee bridge in Rockland County. As a form of protest, he unfurled a rope ladder from the bridge and sat for hours with a 24-foot banner that accused county officials of a “cover-up.”
