Detroit Tiger first baseman Miguel Cabrera has pleaded no contest to a drunken driving charge in Florida. The incident occurred last February near Ft. Pierce, Florida when the Tiger slugger was arrested after refusing a field sobriety test. Cabrera accepted a deal that spares him jail time. Charges of resisting an officer without violence and having an open container in a vehicle were dropped.

Brad Penny got his first win as a Detroit Tiger today, pitching 7 innings and only giving up one hit to the White Sox.  The one hit was controversial as Chicago's Brent Morel reached in the sixth inning on a hard hit ball down the 3rd base line that was gloved by Brandon Inge.  Inge's throw pulled first baseman Miguel Cabrera off the base and the official scorer ruled it was a hit.
