Christmas at Crossroads Adds Drive-Thru Nights

While most of us like to enjoy the full experience of Christmas at Crossroads Holiday Magic, some folks like to stay in their warm and toasty cars and drive through the village to enjoy the spectacular lights. Christmas Eve (Dec 24) and the day after Christmas (Dec 26) will be Drive-Thru only nights, which are just $5 a carload (sorry, no buses).

Christmas At Crossroads "Holiday Magic" Starts Friday

If you're like me and need a little help to get into the Christmas spirit, a trip to Crossroads Village might just do the trick. Christmas at Crossroads "Holiday Magic" 2011 kicks off on Friday, November 25th and goes until December 30th. Enjoy holiday decorations throughout the Village, ride the Huckleberry Railroad which is also lit up for the holiday season, do arts and crafts, visit with Santa Claus or get your picture taken with one of his Reindeer.

Hogsback Trail Race Makes Big Splash

Sunday morning was the 4th annual Hogsback Wilderness Trail Run at Genesee County Parks Elba Equestrian Center. The event featured the 5-mile "Whole Hog" and 2-mile "Piglet" races. Both races had two river crossings, plenty of shoe-sucking mud, and a climb up the Toboggan Hill that would take the breath away from even the best-conditioned athlete. Well over 200 people hit the trails (some of them literally) at this year's races. The overall winners were:

Ladies Night Out at Crossroads Village November 14th

Deer hunting season starts on November 15th, so with most of the guys heading for deer camp it's time for the girls to have a night out. Monday, November 14th at Crossroads Village from 4-9 pm is Ladies Night Out at Crossroads. Shop a lot, eat chocolate, do free take-and-make crafts and indulge in holiday taste treats in the Village's historic homes, all decked out for the holidays.

Hogsback Wilderness Trail Run November 13th

Pardon the spelling, but a few years back when race organizer Terry Castor started this event he got the spelling wrong on Hogbacks which is part of the Genesee County Park area where the race is run. Since he had already printed the shirts, he figured he might as well just go with it. Starting and finishing at the Elba Equestrian Center on Elba road, this event appeals to those who might have run cross country at one time. Or to those who are looking for a bit more of a challenge than road races can offer. Or those who just like to get dirty! This one offers a 5 mile (Big Hog) and 2 mile (Piglet) race. Both will run through mud, 2 rivers and UP the Tobaggan Hill. There are even a few spots where you can actually get a good run going.
