The annual Sweetheart 5k, 10k and Team Competition is this Saturday morning in Flushing. All races start at 10 in front of Flushing Central Elementary School. The flat and fast course runs through neighborhoods around the school, 10k runners do two loops of the 5k course
People who resort to a life of crime are generally not the best and brightest. A 17-year old Flushing Township male proved that as Flushing police followed footprints in the snow after residents reported a man trying to get into their car. After the residents hit the panic button, the alarm scared the suspect who took off running.
Traditional holiday appearances of Santa and the Flushing Candlewalk happen this Thursday in downtown Flushing! For the 28th year there will be ice sculptures, parades, pictures with Santa, and more!
The city's 17th Harvest Festival will cater to the kids even more this year as they feature a Touch the Truck event. The downtown will be decorated with scarecrows and bales of hay as the kids get to have a close-up experience with firetrucks, cranes, dump truck, bulldozers, and more. The festival happens October 1st from 10am to 5pm at Riverview Park in Flushing.
