Max Scherzer didn't have it today.  Then he had it for a few innings.  Then he didn't.  Lucky for him that his teammates swung the bats for him today and the bullpen kept the Indians in check.

The Tigers looked like they were going to run away with this one.  They jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the very first inning and looked like they might keep adding to it.

Justin Verlander carried a no-hitter into the 8th inning.  He ended up giving up two hits, but the Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 4-0 to take over sole possession of first place in the American League Central Division.

Phil Coke pitched a pretty good game and left in the 7th with a 1-0 lead.  The bullpen couldn't hold it, but managed to keep the score tied 1-1 through ten innings.

Rick Porcello pitched good enough to win today's game, but didn't get much help from the Tiger hitters or the Detroit bullpen.  When it was over, Seattle beat the Tigers 7-3.  Porcello had blanked the Mariners until the 5th inning

The Tigers beat up on the Seattle Mariners tonight 8-1 after the Yankees beat Cleveland today 4-0.  The win by Detroit, coupled with another Cleveland loss puts the Tigers and Indians in a tie for first place in the American League Central Division.

The Tigers got all of their runs on one swing of the bat by Victor Martinez.  That was good enough to hold a 2-1 lead for a while.  The Mariners reached the seats one more time than the Tigers did and beat Detroit 3-2.

Justin Verlander was dominant tonight.  He pitched 8 innings, struck out 10, and the only run Seattle scored came on a wild pitch in the 5th inning.  The Tigers also decided to do all of their damage in the 5th

Don Kelly gave the Tigers an early lead with a solo homer in the first inning.  His throwing error on a bases-loaded play at the plate in the 4th allowed the Texas Rangers to open up a 4-1 lead and they never looked back.

The pitching for Detroit was better, and the Tigers topped the previous night's season-high hit total by two.  All of this adds up to another Tiger victory, this time by an 8-1 score.  Starter Rick Porcello held the heavy-hitting Ranger lineup to just one run in six innings to rack up his sixth win of the season.

Max Scherzer had another rough outing for the Detroit Tigers.  After two consecutive starts where he gave up seven runs in each game, Scherzer only gave up five runs in five innings.  He got an awful lot of help this time, and left the game with a 9-5 lead.  The Tigers kept piling on, and Scherzer was rewarded with his 7th win of the season.

This one got off to a rough start for the Tigers and their starting pitcher Brad Penny.  Penny was nicked for two runs in the opening inning and was in and out of trouble after that.  In the 4th inning, the Tiger offense erupted for 6 runs, 4 coming on a Ryan Raburn grand slam homer.
