It's always curious as to what inspires a hit song. For local hero, Bob Seger, it was a trip to the movies that inspired one of his biggest hits, "Night Moves". In 1976 Seger pushed his story about growing up in Michigan into a top five hit and established himself in music circles

across America. Up until this time Seger had been pretty much a regional star, selling out shows at Cobo Hall in Detroit, but not making much impact on the national music scene. "Night Moves" changed everything. What movie was it that inspired him?

Police in Orchard Lake are investigating the theft of an electric guitar that belongs to legendary rocker Bob Seger. The guitar's estimated values is between $8 and $10 thousand dollars, but to Seger it's priceless.

The 1978 Gibson is the one Bob is pictured holding on the cover of his 1994 "Greatest Hits" package. WXYZ in Detroit reports that the theft likely occurred while the Seger family was moving into a new home. They also nabbed a Wii, Pandora bracelet, and a shoe autographed by Shaquille O'neal.

It's not a done deal, but it looks like Bob Seger and his Silver Bullet Band will be going out on tour again in the fall. But - (and this is a big "but") don't look for the rocker to do any shows at The Palace, Dow Event Center, or any other Michigan venue. Boo.

Bob Seger fans who attended the fourth stop of the tour at Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena Saturday were treated to a bonus. Michigan superstar Kid Rock joined Bob on stage, and the two sang "Real Mean Bottle", a country tune from Seger's 2006 album, "Face The Promise". Although Kid Rock didn't make an appearance during Tuesday's show at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, the show was just fine without him! My review of that show is here.

Confirmation came this morning to Bob Seger's website in the form of a video. They teased fans with a short video yesterday, and added info today that confirms a 2011 concert tour.

Tour begins in March; dates to announced soon.
