UPDATE – Andy Rooney's College Roommate Suffers Heart Attack at Memorial Service

UPDATE — Despite a previous report by TMZ on the death of Andy Rooney’s college roommate Bob Ruthman at the memorial service of the ’60 Minutes’ icon, Ruthman was later revived.

Rooney’s son Brian stood up on a chair and pronounced Ruthman dead after the man suffered a heart attack. However, FDNY was able to resuscitate Ruthman once at New York hospital and he is currently in intensive care.

Curmudgeonly commentator Andy Rooney passed away Friday evening, after retiring just a few weeks ago. Rooney's last "60 Minutes" broadcast was October 2nd. He was 92.

"It's a sad day at '60 Minutes' and for everybody here at CBS News," said Jeff Fager, chairman of CBS News and the executive producer of '60 Minutes.'" It's hard to imagine not having Andy around. He loved his life and he lived it on his own terms. We will miss him very much."
